The best tours and tickets in Prague, ranked by real reviews

Prague's old town is free to walk and its paid attractions are cheap, which makes this one of the few cities where a day trip out is the thing worth booking rather than the thing you add. The ranking below weights each rating by review volume. A Vltava cruise starts at €14, castle entry at €30, and a day in Bohemian Switzerland at €74.

This is a smaller catalogue than the western capitals and the review volumes are lower, so the floor we apply — no product enters a top ten under two hundred and fifty reviews — bites harder here. What survives it is worth trusting; what falls below it may still be good, just unproven.

Landmark tickets

Prague Castle, Astronomical Clock, The Jewish Quarter: which ticket to buy

Prague Castle

Entry from €30, and the confusing part is that the grounds are free and the buildings are not: the standard circuit covers St Vitus, the Old Royal Palace, St George's and Golden Lane. Go up in the late afternoon when the coach groups have gone and the cathedral light is worth the climb. The changing of the guard at noon is the busiest hour of the day.

Astronomical Clock & Old Town Square

The clock face costs nothing to watch and the tower above it is ticketed from €30. The hourly show is ninety seconds long and mildly disappointing, which everyone tells you and everyone still watches; the tower view over the square is the part that justifies a ticket.

The Jewish Quarter

A single ticket covers the synagogues and the old cemetery, and this is the one place in Prague where a guide changes the visit rather than decorating it — the Pinkas Synagogue walls and the cemetery need the context. Closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays.

What it costs

How much do tours and tickets cost in Prague?

€12 cheapest ticket compared in Prague

Prague is the cheapest city on this site. A river cruise starts at €14 with a €49 median, museum and monument entry at €12 with a €24 median, and a beer-and-food walk at €24 — figures that would buy an entry ticket alone in Paris. Food tours run to a €92 median from €25. Day trips are the real spend at a €110 median: Bohemian Switzerland from €74 and Český Krumlov from €85 are both full days with two to three hours on the road.

When to book

How far ahead should you book in Prague?

0% of the top ten flagged as likely to sell out

Almost nothing in Prague sells out, which is the honest answer and unusual on this site. The exceptions are small-group Bohemian Switzerland trips in summer, which fill about a week ahead because the good operators cap at fifteen, and river cruises on the two or three warm evenings a week in shoulder season. Castle and Jewish Quarter tickets can be bought on the day for most of the year. Weekends bring stag parties to the old town; weekdays do not.

Good to know

Prague tours and tickets: common questions

Practical answers on prices, priority access and booking windows in Prague, written against the same data the ranking uses.

How much is Prague Castle entry?

From €30 for the standard circuit, which covers St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica and Golden Lane. The grounds themselves are free to walk. Prices here come from the latest data refresh rather than a headline rate.

What is the best day trip from Prague?

Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland comes back highest in reviews, from €74 — sandstone gorges and the Bastei bridge, about two hours each way. Český Krumlov from €85 is the alternative if you would rather walk a town than a trail. Both are genuinely full days.

How much does a Vltava river cruise cost?

From €14 for a scheduled hour, with a €49 median across everything we compare. Dinner cruises sit at the top of the range. The stretch under Charles Bridge is the whole point, and every operator does it, so pick on timing rather than route.

Do you need to book tours in Prague in advance?

Less than anywhere else on this site. A few days covers almost everything, and most castle and Jewish Quarter tickets are available on the day. Small-group day trips in July and August are the exception and deserve a week.

Is a food and beer tour worth it in Prague?

They rate among the highest-scoring products in the city, from €24. The value is in being taken to the places that are not on the square: the beer is cheap everywhere here, but the difference between a tourist hall and a local pub is the whole experience.
